Throughout our daily lives, we experience various states of consciousness, which range from waking, dreaming, to deep dreamless sleep. Associated with each of these states is a unique pattern of measurable brainwave activity. In a normal waking state, the human brain shows electromagnetic activity at a frequency of 15 to 30 cycles per second (cps). This is referred to as a Beta pattern (15-30 cps).
